Should I sue Unum Provident Insurance Company?

I paid premiums to Unum Provident Isurance Company for many years when I was working. They sent  me a letter last week wanting me to pay them 14,700.00 in overpayment? I never got this money from them. They have been sued by many people in the last few years. They are not a good company and the insurance commissionier of Georgia fined them one million for not paying claims.  Has anyone ever had any problems with these people? Send me your info and we may get another class action going with them.

  2. Based on the above information, all they've done is ask (demand) a payment that they are not due and, as such, you have suffered no financial damages. You could sue in a declaratory action to seek the court to rule that you don't owe these bastards anything, but why bother? Better to write them a letter, referencing their letter and stating that you never received any such moneys. If they're serious about collecting the money (and not just fishing for chumps to send them money), they'll sue you. And, if you really never received the referenced money, they'll lose.

  3. They owe me a monthly payment. I was getting 900.00 a month and now I am getting nothing. They are saying that they overpaid me, they did not, I want my money each month. Look them up at Google and see what a shitty company they are, they hate to pay anyone. They are being sued each month and losing all cases.

  5. I would think whacking the signatory to that letter might put them off their game a bit. Of course, I'm no attorney, and Jim is. Maybe he has the better plan.

  7. There is a tv notice currently running in NC about this company. The ad gives info on the attorney to contact to get in on the class action suit. The name is James Sokolove and there is an 800# that you may be able to get thru 800 info.

  8. Unum is scum. We dealt with a few clients that had claims against them when I was at the law firm. If they owe you money, get a lawyer.

  9. Is this a disability plan? Are they claiming that you get social security disability and they want to offset your disability payment? That is what it sounds like to me. Good luck!
